Hago Energetics has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Montebello Ranch Property, a 2,000-acre ranch in Sutton County, Texas, to evaluate the development of a new hydrogen production project utilizing methane from currently capped natural gas wells on the property.
The proposed project will deploy Hago Energetics’ proprietary methane pyrolysis technology to convert stranded methane into clean hydrogen for nearby industrial customers under prospective long-term supply agreements. The process will also produce biochar, a stable carbon product that can be used beneficially in agricultural applications on-site.
This project is intended to serve as a scalable model for transforming stranded and shut-in natural gas reserves into contracted, cash-flowing hydrogen production assets. Revenue opportunities may include hydrogen sales, carbon products, and environmental credits.
“We believe stranded gas-to-hydrogen represents one of the most compelling emerging infrastructure opportunities in the energy transition,” said Wilson Hago, CEO of Hago Energetics.
The parties will work together on reserve characterization, front-end engineering, commercial structuring, and hydrogen offtake development as they evaluate the project toward final investment decision.
This collaboration marks another important step in Hago Energetics’ mission to monetize underutilized methane resources through distributed hydrogen infrastructure serving industrial, transportation, and power markets.
